Artist Mimi Wiggin will exhibit her paintings of farm animals, flowers, birds and wildlife from Sept. 14 through Oct. 12. Wiggin’s artwork was featured in the Jan./Feb. issue of Fiddlehead. Civic Center’s hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon. Closed Sunday. A portion of all sales will benefit the Jaffrey Civic Center.

Kevin Gardner’s informal talk covers few main topics of his book about New England stone walls, “The Granite Kiss,” touching on history, technique, stylistic development and aesthetics. He explains how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls, the ways in which they and other dry stone structures were built, how their styles emerged and changed over time, and their significance to the famous New England landscape. Along the way, Kevin occupies himself building a miniature wall or walls on a tabletop, using tiny stones from a five-gallon bucket. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
